“I am happy to welcome the young and talented Eva Slongo into the small club of modern jazz violinists. Her playing and composing are both inspired and musical and her beautiful singing ability adds a unique touch to her playing.»

Gypsy jazz band

Eva Slongo and Jimmy Grant form a duet that elegantly combines violin and guitar to deliver a sincere and authentic interpretation of gypsy jazz. Their music, influenced by Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli, Eastern European music, and vocal jazz, transports audiences into a world where tradition and modernity converge, all while maintaining a simplicity that invites exploration.

Their collaboration stands out through the integration of vocals. In addition to playing the violin, Eva explores scat singing and vocal improvisation, taking a subtle approach reminiscent of George Benson’s style; she sometimes sings while playing the violin, adding a unique touch to their performances.

The songs in French are infused with nostalgic melodies and dynamic rhythms, evoking tales of travel and emotions, and bringing an intimate warmth to their repertoire.

Primarily a duo, the project can also expand into a trio with double bass or a quartet with two guitars, offering flexibility in arrangements and a diversity of sounds. Each performance, whether in the cozy ambiance of a club or at an outdoor concert, provides a musical experience where simplicity and connection are at the heart of the moment.
